Beginning To Dress A Harvest Table

Often times when I am inspired by an idea for a photo shoot or project, which is quite frequently lately,  I am fortunate to have a wonderful listener who lets me share the details and our conversation gets me thinking even further....

Such is the case with my recent projects including the harvest table I am planning to create.  This image below is my INSPIRATION and I knew the instant I saw it, I needed to create one for my studio......

The first things that caught my eye were the three main wide planks for the top, the patina, and the size.  Such a gorgeous treasure that I am sure has many memories of daily life conversations and wonderful food.  A table with "life".....

We had bitter cold weather this weekend so I was unable to begin tackling the studio project as I had intended but this time allowed me to continue my planning for prop and studio re-organizing.  My harvest table will be a prominent prop in my studio and I have many photo ideas for when it is completed.  My hope is to begin working on both the studio and table in the next week or so.  I will keep you posted every step of the way....

As I shared this idea with Donna (Mike's Mom), we talked about different ways to "dress" a harvest table and how we both liked the simple and unexpected.  As a former antique dealer, Donna not only has a vast knowledge of vintage wares but also has a beautiful collection of primitive items in her home.  As we talked further she brought out a beautiful handful of very old eating utensils......

The wood on the handles, the patina on the tines and blades, the worn smooth finish.....absolute perfection...and the perfect additions for the harvest table place settings....

Also included were several pieces of silver with a finish that took my breath away....

All of which will add to the primitive place settings I picture on the harvest table....so many ideas and ways to showcase these pieces.....I am so excited to begin this project as this harvest table will serve to house so many ideas....including the "secret" dough bowl I mentioned in my last post here.

The studio and props re-organizing project will begin soon and in the meantime, I will continue to add to the list of ideas for dressing a harvest table...

As always, I look forward to your comments and suggestions and read every one - I hope to hear from you soon.
