A Floral Installation Project - Introduction

A Floral Installation Project - Introduction

A revelation...a project idea....design plan ideas...and a project fresh focus...

it just "hit" me.

For the longest time I have wanted to photograph flowers.  Not just flowers in a vase or flowers wrapped in paper or even a flat lay of flowers scattered about....something different....something design challenging....something gorgeous.....

A Floral Installation!

A floral installation project that would involve the following elements:

  • A old or abandoned environment
  • Over-flowing lush floral and greenery designs
  • As much natural flora and fauna as I can find right in my own yard

I began this idea and thought process with a Pinterest "mood board" and started scouring ideas for floral installations both large and small....

This image, in it's simplicity. is so uniquely beautiful.  The old walls and wood floors, tumbled flowers, and branches.  Pure art...

A contemporary staircase flooded with jumbles of leafy branches and random blossoms...stunning...

The abundance of color tumbling throughout combined with the drama of a deconstructed fainting couch....gorgeous...

An abandoned house flower installation project that you must see to appreciate...flooded with life and flowers...eerily beautiful...

A leafy, drippy, free-flowing garland against stately blue walls....the small bouquet on the old wood chairs is magnificent...

A wild and carefree "nature's chandelier"....so serene...

My favorite...from the beautiful blossoms to the dripped walls, to the peeling paper and concrete floors...so genuinely perfectly is all aspects...LOVE....

A multitude of ways to hang flowers on a wall....even prettier unfinished and in process...

Suspended branches with perfectly placed blossoms...speaks of soft radiance....

Wreaths of greens suspended over the dining room table rather than on a door or window....LOVE the simplicity and complete perfectness of this look....

The ideal centerpiece for any harvest table....

Bountiful color and softness against wood and brick....gilded with gold....wonderful...

Absolutely perfect....wild and carefree with complete elegance....another favorite...

wow....amazing....the candles...the colors....love...

These inspiration pictures have given me a project direction and one that I am planning to undertake right in my own backyard.  In the winter the trees whisper softly in the cold wind but the summer creates a new scene of loveliness.....

Imagine a thick, lush, green "forest" of trees and grasses....it is so magical back here in the summer....almost fairy tale like with the canopy of fully leafed-out branches...

And here is my silent subject.....in our backyard is a small, worn, and lovely little shed....she is perfectly suited for a floral installation.  This is where the designing will take place.  The sketches, the visions, the vintage props, and so many many incredible and beautiful wild forest grasses, greenery, and garlands of blossoms.....so many thoughts and ideas......

One of the things I love about this little shed is the unique "latch" placed in the metal loop...a softly worn twig that fits perfectly in the space and keeps out the "undesirables" of forest critters....this little twig has withstood the test of time and stands sturdy in his post.....

This will be a magical project....full of color and flowers and greenery and imagination.....

I plan to share the design steps with you at each phase.  This will not be a "shed reno" or remodel, nor will this be a complete overhaul.  This will take time as that is the intention...nothing quick and slung together but creatively thought out and designed so that the construction with nature's elements in this installation will truly be captured in images that will last a lifetime.  This will be a floral installation built by it's surroundings and sprinkled with flowers and imagination.  A photo shoot built to capture images that speak to the heart......speak to the soul and spirit....that speak to having dreams and the courage to chase them....

Let's see where this takes us.....
